The locals...

...did pretty darn well at the Round Up this year.

I was pretty impressed with how many local people made the performances this year!

Here's our neighbor Blake...

This picture doesn't look like it (slow shutter) but Blake did get his steer flipped.
Or is it dogged?

Or turned?

I don't know. But he got the job done.

(I have never claimed to be a rodeo expert....at least I don't think I have. )
.............................................

And this is Brandon, who is a wheat farmer in the north end of the county. I'm pretty sure this was his first showing at Round Up, so congrats to him!

...................................

And this guy......well Wade Shoemaker's not really a local.
Actually, not at all. He's a DVM from Colorado.

And a former college friend/roommate/judging teammate (I think) of Clint's.

A DVM who happens to be a rippin' good steer tripper.

Except for last Friday.

Oh, he roped the steer all right.

But right after this picture was taken, his steer decided to jump up.

And in steer tripping, once the steer is up on it's feet, it's all over.

No dinero for Wade this go around.

But I'm pretty sure he'll be back again next year.

............................................................

And I don't know if we qualify as "locals" yet, but we're trying!

Oh, and I had to point out these "locals"....Jerry and Linda.

And note that while we were sitting only four rows behind them, they failed to notice our waving hands and calls to them.

If we didn't know better, we'd have thought they were ignoring us.

But we know better.

Tomorrow: Wild Cow Milking.
And our favorite locals - RJ and Terry!
Stay tuned.
