Look out....here we come.

The Sexson's are headed for good 'ol Eastern Oregon!

So excited!

I didn't think we were going to be able to swing it, but Delta dropped their rewards tickets over the weekend....and now I get to come home for a few days.

Delta SkyMiles - I love you!

Sorry - I'm a bit excited. Clint had already planned on flying back on Monday the 6th to help Wadekamper's AI their heifers and cows and now I'll be able to fly in Thursday night the 9th and spend the weekend! Then Clint will drive home and I'll fly back to Lincoln Monday afternoon.

So.so.so.excited!

.........

Ok - I'll calm down now. It's just that we've both been really missing our good friends back home and we're so excited to be able to come back and (hopefully) spend some time with all of you!

“Friendship is a treasured gift, and every time I talk with you I feel as if I'm getting richer and richer.”

In the spirit of Thanksgiving.

“It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in
your heart.”

“He enjoys much who is thankful for little; a grateful mind is both a great and happy mind.”

“Difficulties are opportunities to better things; they are stepping stones to greater experience. Perhaps someday you will be thankful for some temporary failure in a particular direction. When one door closes, another always opens.”

Rewind.

I've been working on getting CD's burned of the Clancy Family Tailgate that happened back in October.

Sorry family & cousins.....I'll get them out before Grandma's next birthday, I promise! :)

I found these two in the ones my mom took....

And they just made me smile.

And I have NO idea what we were taking a picture of either!

Have a great weekend everyone - and keep smiling!

It's official.

The Camry has been totalled.

Sad day. : (

I loved that car so.

But alas....all is not lost. Because now I get to buy a new car.

Except I'm jumping ships.

See, I've always been a Ford girl. The pickup I have now is my fourth Ford.

My first pickup was a 1985 tan Ford Ranger. It was sweet. My parents won it with a $10 raffle ticket at a cow show in California when I was 2 or 3. Both my brother and I drove it through high school.

Then my parents got me an F-150 extended cab. It took me to college. And then it blew up on I-5 outside of Albany. But I couldn't hold that against it....it had a gazillion miles on it, and had been a great pickup.

So then I got an F-250. Clint and I took it on our first date to the beach. Good memories with that pickup.

And finally, after I graduated...I bought the big daddy. An F-350 diesel crew cab.

But it only gets 15-17 mpg, and when you drive over 2,000 miles a month, that adds up to one big gas bill!

So - if the car dealership can get it all worked out....

I'm jumping ships, and buying this...

It's a Chevy Equinox. And it's highway rated for 32 mpg!

THIRTY TWO!!!

And it has all wheel drive....which I think will come in handy this winter.

What do you think?

The fighting has ended.

You know it's time for a new dryer, when Mel (my mother in law, who lives right across the lawn) comes over to the house and asks "Is everything OK?"

And my response would be, "Oh yeah, I'm just drying a load of laundry."

Ever since we moved out here to Nebraska, we have been fighting with our dryer.

"We're fighting!" it was always saying.

Name the college friend.... :)

First it was the heating element that didn't work.

Then, it needed a new fuse.

Thankfully when both of these went out, we had great weather, and I could dry everything on the clothesline. Not so easy when it's 18 degrees outside and snowing.

And finally, two weeks ago, it just kept thumping and thumping.

You know it's bad when you can't watch TV in the other room, while at the same time drying a load of clothes.

My first instinct was to ignore the dryer. I mean, the clothes were getting dry (eventually), and the house wasn't burning down. But then last week, it just quit. You'd throw a load in, press start, it'd make a few rounds, and then just stop.

FRUSTRATING!

We (I use we loosely....basically Clint did the work) took it apart, wiggled some things, took the drum off, re-tightened the belt, wiggled some more things, and started her up.

Still a no-go.

So, this weekend we headed into town and bought this little number....

Hello lovers. I love how you do my laundry.

Quiet.

Efficient.

Space savers. (We love that you can stack them!)

Actually, we were just going to buy a normal dryer, but when we got to Home Depot, we saw that these were on mega-sale, and that we could stack them.

Did you know that you can only stack a washer/dryer if it is the same model and made in the same year? True!

We ended up buying the pair, so that we woudn't get a year down the road, have our washer give out on us, and then have to buy a washer that we couldn't stack.

The $450 off when you bought the pair didn't hurt either.

So - we're back in business.

And the piles of laundry that had been stacked up - are done!

And the multitudes continue.....

holy experience

720. A three day work week.

721. The many sacrifices our Veteran's have made for us.

"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” – Elmer Davis

723. Finally getting a rental car - a cute little Ford Focus.

724. Getting over 32 mpg on the drive home....and NOT hitting a deer with it.

725. Waffle cone Wednesday at TCBY.

726. Rifle season for deer in Nebraska. Unless I was imagining it, there were a few less deer on the road when I drove back to Kearney.

Is 85,000 deer licenses a lot? Because that's what they issued for Nebraska this year.

727. Success for the hunters who were out at our place. They got a really nice buck.

728. Our new washer/dryer.

729. All of our landry....done!

730. An evening in Scottsbluff.

731. Checking out the new Chevy Equinox with Clint.

732. Dinner at Sonic.

733. Talking with my family on the phone.

734. Getting to talk with Lindsay before she hit the beach with the boys.

735. Getting a peek at the Black Friday ads....you can too! Look on www.blackfriday2010.com. Do you have your Christmas lists ready?

736. Our first snow!

737. "Caking" the cows with Clint this weekend. Ranchers here feed big 2x1 inch pellets of "cake" that are compressed distillers/screenings/feed and are high in protein and energy. The cows love them and will follow a truck with a caker on it wherever!

738. Getting my own cake - PW's chocolate sheet cake cupcakes - with buttercream frosting. Have mercy...the diet kind of got thrown out the door this weekend. But these were worth it.

739. Just a really great weekend at home - loved it.

Shipping time.

Our neighbors, the Finney's shipped their calves this weekend, so we spent Thursday morning at their place.

It's what the neighbors do around here....everyone pitches in and helps each other whenever it's needed.

And it all just works. It's a good thing I tell ya.

Anyway, back to Thursday morning. Semi-trucks can't get to where the Finney's headquarters are located, so everyone brings their pickups and trailers, and after gathering & sorting the calves, the calves get hauled down the road in various trailers to the neighboring ranch, and their loading facilities are used to weigh and load the calves into the waiting semi's.

The neighboring ranch is owned by Ted Turner, and they only run buffalo on the ranch, which are too big for standard cattle corrals. So the beautiful working corrals, scale and loading chute don't ever get used by Turner's. But they work just great for the Finney's! Lucky them!

These are just a few pictures from the morning....everything went smoothly which was a blessing!

And an even bigger blessing.....when we were done, Jean, Y & Mel had warm cinnamon rolls, shredded BBQ beef sandwiches and chips & dip waiting! Yum!

The Camry had a bad day.

Bow season started in Nebraska this weekend.

The good news: I guess you could say I got my first deer of the season.

The bad news: I got it with the Camry.

Actually, for the record - the deer hit me.

I was just following the car in front of me coming home on Hwy 2 last Friday night. Going under the speed limit I might add, since I was like "Well, if I stay behind this car, if a deer comes out, they'll hit it first."

But there was a group of deer on the side of the road, and after the car I was following went past them, one bolted out....right into the front side of the Camry.

Let's just say.....the Camry's future after Friday night is not looking so good.

And I wasn't even reading!

I'm blessed that I wasn't hurt at all.

After talking with my insurance company today (praise God for insurance!) it sounds like the Camry will most likely be totalled. But I'll know more later this week after an adjuster looks at it.

And to top things off....wouldn't you know it, there are NO rental cars available in Kearney until tomorrow afternoon?

So I've been driving around in town in style!

If you can call duct tape, baling twine and plastic sheeting stylish! :)

Can you?

So - I'll probably be in the market for a new(er) car.

One that gets good gas mileage.

And repels deer.

Any suggestions????

But like my wise Grandma said today when she called me out of the blue,

"There's always a little bit of good in anything bad."

That's a quote to take to the bank, I tell ya.

...................

And the multitudes keep rolling in....

holy experience

700. Sweet little Addie Marie's baptism yesterday.

701. Getting to hang out with her, our other niece and nephew Rylie & James, and their parents.

702. Not realizing how much damage I'd done until I got home. (I figured....as long as the car was running, I should just keep going. So I didn't even realize that I wouldn't be able to hardly open my car door until I was in my driveway.)

703. Good weather Friday night....It would have been a major bummer to drive the 100 miles I had left home after the deer hit me with a busted out window in the rain/sleet/snow!

704. A husband who can just make it all better. Love you Clint!

705. Really good auto insurance. Thanks Kerri! I'll be sad when I have to switch to my Nebraska agent in February.

*If anyone is looking for a really good insurance agent, I highly recommend my college friend Kerri. She's on top of things, makes sure you're covered, and does it economically!

706. Safely making it home.

707. A morning spent outside.

708. An afternoon spent napping.

709. Sunshine.All.Day.Saturday.

710. College football on TV. Too bad the Beavs lost :(

711. Facebooking with friends.

712. Leftover pecan pie.

713. Working together.

714. Hugs & a kiss goodbye.

715. Cute little 3-packs of Lindt truffles in the Christmas aisle in Walmart. It's the perfect amount of goodness for $1!

716. 70 degree weather....in November....in Nebraska!

717. A great Zumba class tonight at the Y.

718. Clearance Halloween candy. (I know, it kind of off-sets the one above...but clearance Halloween candy only comes about once a year!)

719. Lots of love....from all directions!
