It's our job.

Around the ranch this weekend:

Last week I posted on Facebook that I was praying for patience & wisdom...

My very smart, talented & beautiful cousin
{who is also a wife and mother of 2}

"I've learned that God doesn't just give you patience and wisdom, He answers your prayers with opportunities to practice your patience and earn wisdom.
It's your job to make the most of them."

Kinda blew my socks off.

Happy Monday.

Opportunity is knocking.

A little thing.

It's Friday night, I just got home and I need to get this off my chest....

How many wives get to come home after a long and frustrating week to a cleaned house, laundry in the dryer and a husband who comes out to help her load in the groceries?

Happy Weekend Friends.

Wishing you all a little extra help after a long week!

RC Bulls

Speaking of good Charolais cattle, on our way home from Denver we stopped by and looked through a pen of bulls Ritchey Charolais had on feed....

Can you ever see too many good cattle?

We think not.

P.S. - How cool is this bull?

And he's a full blood Charolais!

(Yes, they can come in a red package too!)

P.P.S. This one was Clint's favorite....

Darn shadows....

These bulls weren't mean at all,

but I was a little chicken, so I stayed close to the rail. :)

Thanks Wrex for suggesting we stop by - it was worth the trip!

We ♥ good Charolais cattle!

And we ♥ good friends.

Thanks to the Hebbert's for letting us visit last weekend!

From Oregon....

While they may judge for other schools, in other states....

Quality stockmen (and women!) can still come from Oregon.

Great work last week Jordan, Hannah, John & Jake!

To my seeester!

She's funny.
Well dressed.
A fun lover. Not a fun hater.
And she was nice enough to fly to Denver last weekend to visit us.
She's cool like that.

She's my sister. And she's pretty fabulous!

Love ya Lindsay!

Here's to the coaches.

It takes a special person, to give of themselves.

To spend their weekends on the road, squished into a van, eating dinners away from their families.

To stay awake into the wee hours of the night.

To pass on knowledge.

And guidance.

To want others to succeed so badly, that they'll sacrifice much to make it happen.

To those whom rarely get thanked often - or enough - in return.

Here's to you.

Many of you have helped shape us into who we are today.

Thank you.

How much.

This {long} weekend made me realize yet again just

How talented he is.
How many friends he has in this world.
How much those friendships mean to him.
How big of a heart he has.
How funny he can be.
How good his eye is.
How much he loves good livestock.
How much I love standing by his side.

And how lucky I am to get to love him.

Love you. Mean it.

Stock Show 2011 - Day 1

I don't know what it is about "Denver"....

Maybe it's the comraderie everyone shares, or the love for quality livestock.

Maybe it's the friends you only get to see here...this one time of year.

Maybe it's the kids out on the floor - blazers on, notebooks tucked into the back of their slacks, jostling for the best spot on the corner to watch the livestock make the turn.

Maybe it's the bustle of the shopping areas, and the BBQ you look forward to at lunch.

Maybe it's the smell of Pink Oil and the shine of the blown hair.

Maybe it's the starched jeans, or the over the top bling.

Maybe it's walking through The Yards or stopping to see the pens.

Maybe it's the awe of those who've hauled in carloads of cattle, and brave the weather to make sure they look their best.

Maybe it's sitting in the stands, silently, all day long - and not feeling like a minute was wasted.

Whatever it is about "Denver" - or the National Western Stock Show - I love it.

And I'm so thankful to be here.

Go Tigers!

It's a winter white wonderland here tonight as I type this.

Eight inches of snow last night - and single digit temperatures today.

We had a late start this morning at the office - and even then, only five {of 12} were able to make it in.

Some producers drifted in, but for the most part, it was a pretty quiet day.

So there I was just minding my own business this afternoon, helping a producer in the front part of our office fill out some forms.

I had wrapped up what I was doing with them, and headed back to my office to take a phone call when I ran into these!

But I had to laugh - everyone here knows that we are BEAVER BELIEVERS!

I make a point of letting everyone know that I am an Oregon Beaver and NOT an Oregon Duck!

I reference it to rooting for Oklahoma....and in Nebraska, you're liable to get beat up if you say you're an Oklahoma fan!

Anyway, I found the culprit (our Farm Loan Officer) and promptly told him that I'd be rooting for Auburn tonight.

All I have to say is, "War Eagle"!

An FSA Christmas Tea Party

My office staff is pretty amazing....and willing to do just about anything.

This mentality applies not only to our work ethic, but it also applies to our party ethic.

Let me just tell you - if something involves having a party, we're game.

Before Christmas, we decided we needed to take an office picture and send it to our neighboring county FSA offices, and a few others.

But - we wanted to make it memorable. So we had a party.

And what is more memorable than an Ugly Sweater Party!

AND, to top it off, we thought we could all do something "naughty" in the picture.

(Well, at least naughty if we were doing it in the office, on work time.)

And so I bring you.....

The Buffalo-Sherman FSA Staff

2010 Christmas Card Picture

But we didn't just stop at the Ugly Sweater party.

At our office, we celebrate all birthdays ending with a "0" with a "surprise" themed party.

(Except it's never a surprise, because everyone knows we celebrate those birthdays. What IS a surprise, is the theme of the party.)

Sharon, who is the Chief PT in the office, and my right hand, turns '____' (rhymes with pixy) this weekend, and is a major tea pot collector.

So we threw her a tea party. Complete with tea & crumpets and hats & gloves.

And a lot of fake flowers.

What can I say - the ladies here like fake flowers. But they worked.

Happy Birthday Sharon - Here's to another fabulous trip around the sun!

I had grand plans of re-posting my favorite pictures of 2010, and writing about how much I was looking forward to all of the fun 2011 will bring.

But I can't find my external hard drive right now....I thought it was in my suitcase back here in Kearney, but after not finding it this morning, now I'm pretty sure it's floating around in the backseat of Clint's pickup, which is at the ranch...

So no pictures will be posted.

Darn it.

But all is not lost - after thinking about it all last week, I think I've come up with my "word" for 2011.

Lindsay turned me on in 2010 to choosing a word for the new year, and I'm keeping up the trend.

Last year's word was "Committed".

I wanted to be committed to my friends & family, a healthier lifestyle and a better relationship with God. Oh, and I wanted to play a lot of Bunco.

But who doesn't want to play a lot of Bunco? Amen sisters!

With all of the change that's happened in the last six months, and still not knowing really what's going to happen in the next six months of 2011, I wanted a word I could live up to, but would also challenge me.

So this year, I'm working on Grace.

To ask for grace, and give it freely.

To love those around me, and not speak ill of others.

To care for others more than they expect me to.

To preach grace at all times....and use words, if necessary.

To make wise decisions and think of others before myself.

To listen more, and speak less.

To love life, whole heartedly and abundantly.

I'm a work in progress.....but who isn't?

2011 - The Year of Grace.

"He asks for Grace, not grindstone. Praise, not perfection."
