It's the little things.

Sometimes I worry that we don't have enough toys for Chandler....
So it's fun to see when he can have fun with the "every day" things.
Hitting the flaps of boxes, crumpling paper, flipping through a bull sale catalog, banging bowls with spoons....right now, these are all little things that Chandler loves to do.

And this weekend we learned he loves to "help" with the laundry too.  ;)
I'm sure his future wife will be thankful for his folding skills!

And of course, a boys got to have a few tractors too.

Weekend Wrap Up - Grandma Melly Edition

I love July.

Now - I normally say that Spring or Fall is my favorite time of year - and as far as the weather goes, those two seasons win hands down.

But as far as pace of life, and the ability to slow down and breath a little....

July takes the cake.

This weekend was another one where we just enjoyed life.

Friday night after work, I had a date with this cute lady and her family....

Miss Taylor May is so precious and SUCH a good baby.

I don't want to steal any thunder from Alecia's announcement idea (because it is adorable) but I figured showing you a blurry one wasn't going to ruin her surprise....but would you just LOOK at those tiny hands?

My uterus was doing back flips, wanting to have another little one while my brain was saying "Whoa, Nelly....let's get Chandler grown up a little more first."  :)

Speaking of Chandler....I had approximately two extra minutes before the Funk's arrived at our house so I snuck in a few pictures of him.

Love this sweet baby.

And I must love this outfit...because the last pictures I took of him were in the same one, lol.

While I was hanging out with the Funk's, Adam & Clint were getting a tour of a calf feeding facility in Boardman and when they got home we all just settled in and hung out watching TV for awhile.

Watching TV in the evenings is kind of a luxury and guilty pleasure....we're usually too tired to stay up, but Friday night we watched for an hour or two and it was blissful to just kind of zone out and relax.

Saturday Clint headed to Heppner with Pace to help with a livestock judging workshop, while I went to an appointment in Tri-Cities.  That night we headed out to the Raymond's and ate spaghetti (thanks Amy!) & ice cream cake, and wrapped up the evening by playing Apples to Apples.

It's TOTALLY Ryan's favorite game.
Colter and Amy were neck & neck for the final win but Amy pulled off the win!

Sunday we had plans to go to The Dalles to meet Grandma Melly for lunch.
Mel, and her three siblings Joe, Lori & Chuck came to visit their sister who lives north of Portland this week.  Their nephew Shawn lives in Portland, and he drove Mel & Aunt Lori to meet us for lunch.  Chandler had just woken up when we got to Big Jim's, but after he woke up a bit he was a ham and loved being held by everyone.

We love this crew, and it was a great way to spend the day!

Hope you had a great weekend too, and are living the dream wherever you are!

Pacific City - Part III

This is my last post about the beach, and it contains a lot of family pictures that I just want to have documented to remember.

Lots of scrolling will be involved.  :)

Love this family of mine and the fun time we had at the coast.

We took a few family pictures the morning that we left - I thought they turned out nice.

The rest of the pictures are just random family pics from our time at the beach....

Pacific City - we enjoyed you!!!

Pacific City - Part II

We had THE BEST time crabbing in the bay on Saturday.

Lindsay & Henry brought their boat over, and we all went out at lunchtime.  Mom had stopped to pick up a life vest at their house for Chandler, and so we were all able to go!  At first Chandler didn't quite know what to think about the life vest, but once he figured he could chew on it - he was game.  :)

Little man has 4 teeth coming in all at once on the top, and so he likes to chew on whatever is handy, but he especially loves Clint's hat brim.  It's a favorite for sure!

Lindsay & Henry have a good partnership and rhythm on the boat.  He drives, and Lindsay handles the pots.  They each do their job, and work really well together.  Clint got to help too since we were along, which was fun.

After putting all of the crab pots in, we went to the end of the bay to check out the view.

Chandler started getting sleepy, so he laid down and took a little nap.  The life jacket came in handy, as an impromptu pillow too! :)

And then the fun really started....

The water was shallow and we could see thru it to the bottom....and what did we see?

So Henry manned the trolling motor, and we'd all look and shout to him when we found one.  He, Clint and Lindsay had nets and would scoop up the big ones and see if they were keepers.

We probably caught 5 or 6 this way, and it was so fun for everyone to look and yell out when they saw one.  Those little suckers are fast though, and you had to be on your game with the net to get them scooped up!

Meanwhile, this guy was supervising...

He woke up as we were headed to go check the pots, and Grandma got in a few snuggles!

The pots were FULL, so after going through them once, we re-set them and headed in to the house.

Henry & Lindsay cleaned all of the crab (16 total) and then we enjoyed them for dinner.

Well....everyone except me ate them.

Lol - I just that I don't care for anything that swims.  My family will tell you that crab don't swim....but I still don't care for the taste of seafood.

But it was SUPER fun being out on the boat, and taking it all in.
Love this kind of family time!
