Chandler's 1st Heifer.

We had a great weekend in Central Oregon!

It was the Gohr's annual Crown Jewel Event heifer sale, and also John & Kara's wedding so we made a weekend of it.  Clint flew home Friday after a week in Nashville looking at cattle with Select Sires on their progeny tour, and I took family pictures of the Funk's Friday night so we made a short night of it and went to bed early.  Saturday we slept in, ate breakfast at home and got ready to get on the road to Central Oregon.

John & Kara got married at a beautiful ranch in Redmond, and the wedding was outside in a pasture and then the reception was set up in their riding arena.  It was very "them" and so lovely!  Every detail was attended to - a quilt to sign, scrumptious cupcakes, lovely lace details and beautiful western d├ęcor.  But the best part was that the people there just made the wedding so fun.  John & Kara have great friends, and it was a great evening.

I don't know what I was thinking (because Lindsay had texted me a month ago to ask we if were going to the wedding too), but we showed up to park and we were right by Henry & Lindsay - I wasn't even expecting to see them, so it was GREAT to spend the evening with them!  Chandler especially liked loving on his Auntie Lindsay and giving her kisses.

How cool was John's grooms' cake???  I think I need to re-create this as a Charolais for Chandler's birthday in January.  :)

We spent the night at our favorite hotel, The Cross Keys Inn, and then had a nice slow morning before the sale.

Clint went to look at bulls at Texeira's, while Chandler and I got up and ready and had breakfast.  Later that morning we headed out to Gohr's for their sale!

I've said it before - but Brad & Dawn are such great people, and totally deserve everything that they've worked hard to build.  This year's sale went really well, at their new place and we were so excited for them.

Before the sale, Clint came up to me and asked what I thought of buying a heifer in partnership with Gohr's.  I wasn't expecting that, but 100% love that Clint is wanting to build something for Chandler so that when he's old enough - he'll have heifers to show.

Let's hope Chandler loves cattle as much as we do!  ;)

So at the end of the day, Fallon & Chandler are partnered up on Lot 19 and it will be fun to watch Fallon and this heifer in the ring!  Because a year is a little early to be at the halter, so Fallon's going to take one for the team this year and show.  :)

And let's just lay it out there, because I know you're all thinking it -

Who would have ever thought Chandler's "first" heifer would be a Hereford???

LOL - all of his judging kids are probably shaking their heads as they read this.  :)

After the sale, Brad showed us around their new place which is so nice.  They are going to make a lot of great memories there!

Chandler fell asleep in the pickup as we were out touring, and stayed asleep almost all of the way home.  (He stretched his legs for a bit in Biggs, and then conked out for the rest of the ride.)  It was such a great weekend, and even though we got in late, and the alarm came at it's normal 4:10 am in the morning - I couldn't think of a better way to spend the weekend.

Family, friends, cattle & weddings - we're living the good life.

Hope you're all living the dream too - have a great week!
