Chandler & Twist.

I figure I'll pay for it in the morning, but Chandler fell asleep tonight at 6:30, and after getting the house picked up and a few thank you's written, I spent some time going through my camera card.  As I was downloading two months worth of pictures (I'm so behind, but that's another story) I came across these and thought I'd post them really quick.....
Chandler loves riding Twist.
We love that.

Happy Tuesday friends.
Hope that this week finds you doing something you love too..

It's Friday!  Wooot wooot!!

This week has been busy at work....and I'm ready for a weekend, but I think it's going to be busy too.

Lol - we're living the dream though!  :)

Just a few pictures to recap life lately -

Last weekend we bred heifers and had a great weekend as a family!  Chandler was ready to roll Thursday night....but a small snafu with our camper had us leave Friday morning.  All was good though and Chandler did a great job on the 10+ hour drive.

We're headed to Baker tomorrow and then Mitchell to breed two more sets of cows.  The end of the AI season is in sight - but we're going to finish strong!

My mom is here today and tomorrow and Chandler was so thrilled to see Grandma last night that he stayed up until 10:00 pm!

He normally goes to bed by 8:00 pm or 8:30, and then I go change water if Clint's not home....so last night I was changing it in the dark, haha.  (Clint's in Wallowa and Baker breeding.)  But earlier this week I got a few fun pictures of the cows.  The grass is growing well, and we are thankful that we don't have to worry about feed when we're gone a few days in a row.

The barn is coming along too!  They poured concrete and finished shoring up some trusses this week.

And I thought I was being smart by leaving our brand out for them to stamp into the fresh concrete when they poured the apron.  I should have left directions on which way the brand needed to face....whoops.  Oh well, lesson learned.

We've been trying to stay cool here in between heat spells - and it looks like it's going to get warm again next week!  Chandler loves playing outside in the water, so swim trunks & dinner on the patio are becoming the norm.  :)

And because it's my blog, a few more pictures of the Chan man.  :)

Hope everyone has a super weekend!

3 things.

Just a quick post with 3 things about us right now!

1. Homeboy loves to eat things out of a small Ziploc sack.  I think it's hilarious, but it really does make him happy.

2. Chandler has a plethora of toys and trucks - and he is happy to play with them, but if he hears the pantry door open he makes a bee line for the broom!!!  Hahaha - he is so funny.  If I need 30 minutes to make dinner (or 10 minutes to make breakfast, which is the photo above) and he needs to be occupied, all I need to do is let him in the pantry and he's content.  I might have a mess to clean up - but it's a pretty easy mess to clean up.  :)

3. This is Chandler's 3rd week at his new daycare provider Kelley's, and he is having a ball.  She makes sure they get outside on nice days, takes them to the park to swing, lets them play in the sprinklers and they gets afternoon treats almost every day.

Chandler & his buddy Jory enjoying an ice cream sandwich - they LOVE to play with each other!

Drop off is still a little tough on him but she is wonderful and handles it like a champ.  On warm mornings when she has the window open, I can hear him stop crying as soon as I close the door - the little stinker.  ;) I think he does that just to pull my heart strings.

I put this on the blog not to make anyone feel guilty - but I think I post a lot of positive, happy things and how well Chandler handles things, and this has been one thing we have struggled with so I wanted to be open & honest.

Clint & Darcy

1. We are excited to watch the progress on our barn!  They started to put up rafters this week, and then were delayed due to weather.  But it's still fun to see what's been done when we pull in the driveway each night.  I can't wait for concrete - I hope we're home, so we can have Chandler put his handprints in the foundation.

2. We're headed to Nevada this weekend to help with a large heifer project.  Think middle of nowhere, beautiful scenery, the guys are sleeping in tents....except we're cheating and taking our camper.  :)  It's supposed to get down to 30* at night, and with Chandler going we are taking the camper.  (Plus that way I'll have a way to heat up bottles, run water, etc.)  And we won't be that far away from civilization, either lol.  I'm not due for another 5 weeks, but we want to be smart too - we won't be that far away from a hospital, just in case this baby decides to come early.

3. We are so excited to meet our baby boy!  We have a name picked out (but won't be telling anyone until he's born) and it's fun to look forward to the end of June.  My sweet Bunco group threw a baby shower for me at Bunco last week (thank you ladies!) and we are stocked on diapers, wipes and cute summer newborn clothes.  I am starting to get to the point where I'm becoming uncomfortable, but I only have to deal with it for a few more weeks so I'm happy to bear along.  :)   Since he'll be our last, I'm really trying to savor the little things about pregnancy and enjoy them.

So that's 3 things about us right now!

PS - Thanks to the Momfessionals blog for inspiring this post!

Mother's Day Weekend.

We had a great Mother's Day weekend!

Friday night, Chandler & I headed to Baker to meet up with Clint.  We helped breed a final set of heifers at the DLX the next morning, and since Clint already had a hotel room (he'd been there for a few days AI'ing different groups at the DLX) we headed over Friday night so we didn't have to get up and make the drive super early Saturday.  Clint had a small group to breed Friday night too, so I helped with those while Chandler took a cat nap in the pickup.

Road tripping is pretty fun when you have McDonald's and a movie.  :)

We wrapped up the last group of heifers in this round (we'll be back in two weeks) Saturday morning - Tyler & Deven bred, while I thawed and Clint brought the cattle and managed shots.  I think we did 80+ in under an hour, so in no time we were done, packed up and headed for home.  It snowed & hailed on the way home - crazy weather for May!  I actually ended up putting the dogs in the tack room of the trailer from North Powder to Pendleton so they wouldn't have to endure the crummy weather in the back of the pickup.

The rest of Saturday afternoon was pretty quiet - Chandler and I got a few things done around the house while Clint stayed to prep some things in Baker for Monday, and then he headed home to join us.  We spent a quiet evening in - and watched this guy make a hot mess out of eating his dinner, lol.

Some battles aren't worth fighting - and luckily hands, faces & clothes all wash.  :)

Sunday morning we celebrated Mother's Day by sleeping in, eating breakfast as a family and trying to take a morning nap....but I lost that battle with Chandler, so we went to the feedlot with Daddy and helped give shots to a group of heifers.  :)

I did get my nap later though - and it was great!  Is there really a better gift than a hour and a half nap in the early afternoon?  Most of all, I just really enjoyed getting to spend a day with my guys doing what we wanted, with no agenda.  Clint got some irrigation things done, I got grocery shopping done and we spent time together sitting on the back porch enjoying our view.  So nice!

Also, I need to take a picture of it - but Chandler's sweet babysitter Kelley and her daughter Jonnie made handprint art on canvases with the kids to give to the mom's and mine is the sweetest!!!  It's propped in our kitchen, so I see it when I do the dishes.  Seriously - it's things like this that I love the most.  We're not big "gift givers" in our house - but quality time, and gifts made with love really are my love language.

Hope you all had a nice weekend wherever you are!

The barn.

Work on our new barn started this month!

Kralman's are building us a 50x60 pole barn, that will be half "shop" and half "barn". The shop will have a concrete floor, and the barn half will be dirt/gravel.

There'll be two 14x14 doors on the front, with a man door in between.  Clint has everything calculated so we can build pens inside during the winter to calve in, and then pull them out and back in our portable bud box, double alley and hydraulic chute to work/AI the cows in the spring.

We're going to side the inside of the barn with insulation and sheet metal, in hopes that it will be easy to keep clean.

It's been fun to watch the progress!
