Christmas at the Zoo.

On my side of the family, we stopped giving presents and instead give our presence.  Last year was the first year we did that (the adults at least; the boys still get gifts) and it was so fun and honestly, just a lot less stressful.  There was no buying random gifts, just to buy a gift.....and we are all at the stage where we have good jobs and don't really "need" anything.

The boys got to open gifts though; and they were spoiled!  Or well loved.  :)

My mom put together this cute video of the pictures she took and I love it so much!

- Christmas at Gaga's house -

So this year the family togetherness plan was to go to the zoo, and then the Grotto in Portland after brunch at my mom's house.  We sorta stuck to the plan....ha ha.  I actually rolled my ankle at the gym on Friday (and thought it was broken, but the x-rays came back negative) and so my mobility wasn't super awesome.  And then we got separated at the zoo, and not everyone had a cell phone on by the time we all met up, we just ended up doing the zoo and calling it a night.

Next year we can do the Grotto.  ;)

So even though it didn't go to plan, it was still fun and the boys really had a great time.  The Portland Zoo was all but empty when we showed up after lunch in a light drizzle, so the boys could run/walk without us having to hang on to them and we all had jackets so we were pretty comfortable.

We headed home after we all met up, and made the trip back home.  It was a great way to spend time together as a family, and I can't wait for next year!

And PS - my ankle held up well, and isn't broken - but it wasn't pretty at the end of the day.

You win some, you lose some! :)
